Leveraging Data to Tell Your Story and Boost Fund Development

Tuesday, July 22nd; 9:00am - 12:00pm (in-person)

This is the a la cart session 2 of our Fund Development Certificate.By registering for this session you are not signing up for the entire certificate program.
Description

Through interactive activities, you’ll learn to use data to tell your story with clarity and credibility - understanding stakeholder perspectives and determining what data will resonate with them. You will come away with a framework you can apply to your own work to effectively communicate the value of your work to donors, grant makers, and other stakeholders.


Learning Outcomes

Participants will know:
  • What type of data will likely resonate with specific stakeholders
  • Ways to transform existing data into compelling narratives based on stakeholder interests/ needs
  • Strategies to supplement existing data when needed

Trainer: Laura Keene, Keene InsightsLaura Keene

Laura Keene is Owner & Principal of Keene Insights where she provides strategy and evaluation support to nonprofits, foundations, and other community-based organizations. She believes that with some good planning and a dash of creativity, data can deepen impact, strengthen relationships, shift power, and even be fun. Laura has been doing this type of work for more than twenty years and across a variety of fields including public health, healthcare, social services, and education in local, national, and international settings. She has an undergraduate degree in Psychology from UC Berkeley and a Master of Public Health from Columbia University.


Cancellation policy: We require notice of cancellation at least 48 hours in advance of the class start time. No refunds will be provided for no-shows or late cancellations. LACDAC and First 5 (Region 4) grantees who register and do not attend will be invoiced directly for the full cost of the course. All registrants are encouraged to send an alternate if unable to attend.
