From Vision to Action: A Strategic Planning & Organizational Development Intensive for Nonprofit Leaders
Most nonprofit leaders know they need a strategic plan, but few have the time or experience to explore how to start one, or how to bring their stakeholders along once they do. This six-hour intensive is built for Executive Directors and board members of small and mid-sized nonprofits who want to leave with more than a framework: a working set of drafted strategic direction they can bring straight back to their organization. Participants will assess their organization's real readiness to plan, refresh their mission and values, run a SWOT analysis, and draft Strategic Impact Goals with measurable indicators. They will then be given the tools to translate their top priority into a 90-day action plan with named owners and deadlines. The goal is that the session ends not with just inspiration, but with steps to build a proposal ready for the next board meeting.

Andrew Nishimoto is the Founder & Principal Consultant of Impact Group Consulting (IGC), a Long Beach, CA-based, Asian American-owned consulting firm partnering with mission-driven nonprofits, foundations, and educational and religious institutions on strategic planning, organizational assessment, and capacity-building. Since founding IGC in 2019, Andrew has led strategic planning and organizational development engagements for organizations including Coro Southern California, East Yard Communities for Environmental Justice, LAHSA, and the LA County Department of Mental Health, among others. Before consulting, Andrew served as Executive Director of Family Promise of the South Bay and in interim executive roles at other community-based organizations, giving him firsthand experience with the board dynamics, leadership transitions, and resource constraints nonprofit leaders navigate daily. He holds an MA in Pastoral Counseling, is a 2025 REDF Accelerator alumnus, and is certified in Everything DiSC (Wiley) and the Core Capacity Assessment Tool (CCAT, TCC Group).
