Robert's Rules of Order/Parliamentary Procedure

Tuesday, September 22, 2026; 9am - 11:30am (VIRTUAL)

Parliamentary procedure—often seen as a dry, technical topic—doesn't have to be intimidating or inaccessible. This 2.5-hour interactive workshop on Robert's Rules of Order is designed to make the rules relevant, engaging, and practical for participants at any experience level. Through a mix of instruction, real-life examples, and hands-on activities, participants will explore not just how Robert's Rules work, but why they matter and how to apply them with confidence in real meeting settings. The workshop emphasizes practice over perfection: meetings belong to everyone, and everyone has a role in making them run well.

Learning Outcomes
By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:
1. Explain the purpose and key principles of Robert's Rules of Order, including how parliamentary procedure can support fair, efficient, and productive meetings.
2. Apply Robert's Rules of Order in common meeting scenarios, drawing on practical examples and interactive practice to navigate motions, debate, and decision-making with greater confidence.
3. Take shared ownership of meeting effectiveness, using parliamentary procedure as a tool to keep meetings on track, move agendas forward, and ensure all voices are heard regardless of their prior knowledge of the rules.
