The Essentials of Program Development Certificate Program

Three Sessions: June 16th, 23rd, 30th; 9:00 am - 4:00 pm (In-person)

This program will provide the knowledge and practical skills for social impact leaders and program staff to design and launch mission-aligned programs.

This three-day certificate program will focus on the tools, skills, and strategies for creating lasting community change.

• Anyone responsible for program creation or implementation

Topics:

Day 1 (June 16th): Mission, Theory of Change, and Program Design Framework

Understand how to create and keep programs aligned with your mission. Create a Theory of Change model for your organization and learn how to use it as a communication and fundraising tool. Acquire the foundations of effective program design.

Day 2 (June 23rd): Design & Implement Key Assessments and Refresh Failing Programs

Understand the framework and tools to create and implement a comprehensive approach to provide insights about various stakeholder groups. Learn the framework and tools to develop and implement a robust assessment that will give you a complete data set to help you make vital decisions about your programs. Determine when and how a program needs to be renewed or retired. Create a transition plan to implement your program changes.

Day 3 (June 30th): Program Budget, Operations, and Program Launch

Learn how to build a realistic and attainable budget to ensure program success. Experience a deep dive into the process, tools, and resources needed to implement the successful launch of a new program.

Trainer: Damon Colaluca (pronounced kō-la - lŭ-ka)

Damon Colaluca is an influential purpose-driven leader with extensive experience developing and implementing strategies that create thriving social impact organizations; coaching individuals, managers, and teams to achieve their full potential; and creating connections and collaborations that result in transformative change.

For over 30 years, Damon has travelled the country, working to expand the capacity of social impact organizations and their ability to create real and lasting change. Throughout his lifetime of leadership, he has seen social impact organizations transform the lives of hundreds of thousands of people. From leading organizations and boards to spearheading mergers and facility acquisitions to directing mission advancement and fundraising initiatives, his efforts have transformed both organizations and communities.

Damon received a Bachelor of Arts degree from California State University at Long Beach, completed post graduate coursework in Public Administration at Notre Dame de Namur University and earned an Executive Certificate in Leadership Management from the University of Notre Dame. He is a faculty-level trainer and a recipient of a California Department of Education Golden Apple award.

LACDAC and First 5 (Region 4) grantees who register without attending will be invoiced directly for the full cost of the course. Per our contract with LACDAC, we are required to notify LACDAC of any grantees who register and do not attend; Those who miss a session cannot register to attend any future TNP sessions until payment is received.
